Points planning guide

Europe with points: compare the trip, not just the headline

Build a flexible Europe award search and compare mileage, fees and onward travel costs.

Prepared September 10, 2026. Official resources reviewed on that date; verify your signed-in terms and current availability before transferring.

Choose a useful arrival airport

Write down your final destination and realistic alternatives. Arriving in a different European city may work if the onward train or flight fits your schedule. Include that extra cost and time rather than comparing only the long-haul award.

Use official search tools

Flying Blue publishes a dedicated reward-ticket and Promo Rewards page. Check the current page and booking search for the routes, dates and terms relevant to your trip. This guide does not advertise a current promotion, discount or available seat.

Build a fair comparison

Compare the same passenger count, direction and cabin. Include carrier-imposed charges, taxes, positioning flights and any overnight stay. Confirm whether a business-class itinerary includes an economy segment before treating it as a premium-cabin trip.

A useful decision rule

Set a maximum points budget and cash budget before searching. For example, a hypothetical option using 20,000 fewer points but $400 more cash deserves a deliberate comparison with your alternatives. Neither option is automatically better. Verify the final terms, then move only the points needed for the chosen booking.

Build your own starting plan

Try the example first, then create an account to enter your real balances and travel goals.
